River Dun and Froxfield Stream

Froxfield Stream Community Project

The River Dun and Froxfield Stream are chalk streams. The Froxfield Stream is a tributary of the Dun; and the Dun is a tributary of the River Kennet.
In Froxfield village ARK are working with the Parish Council and the wider community to improve river habitat and a small water meadow.

Plans for the exciting project are here.

T
he project has restored the chalk stream habitat and created a wetland. More than 4,000 plants have been planted, 1 kg of wildflower seed has been scattered and 420 native trees planted to establish a hedge between the busy road and the water meadow. At every stage the community have been involved, with more than 80 volunteers taking part in our professionally led river restoration and wetland days held over 2019. The next step is to install a recycled plastic boardwalk and pond dipping platform.
