Farmers in the Kennet Valley are leading the way in river friendly farming
ARK run a series of events, hosted by local farmers, with expert guest speakers on topics including soil health, the value of cover crops, pesticide managment, natural flood management, river habitat managment, track management and clean and dirty water separation. We work closely with the Catchment Sensitive Farming team and have a mixture of in-house and external expertise to call on.
Farmers play a vital role providing land for us to build wetlands to slow and clean water as it moves through the catchment. We work closely with them to plant hedges to interupt overland flows, trapping sediment and protecting watercourses from pollution as a result. Our volunteer teams provide energy and enthusiam to get thousands of hedges and trees planted every year.
