Description:
Our annual riverbank walk, this year there are 2!
A walk for the community/public in the morning and our member's walk in the afternoon.
Both will be arrowed routes at The Wilderness. The starting point is Richens Lodge, Board Lane, Halfway, Berks, RG20 8NF.
You will enjoy a private reach of the river and its wildlife with soft drinks and cakes for sale to enjoy on the bank and raise us valuable funds.
The public morning walk is approximately 3km (1.8 miles)
The member's afternoon walk is approximately 5.6km (3.5 miles)
Both are circular routes.
Strictly no dogs, uneven terrain, not suitable for pushchairs, families welcome, no unaccompanied children, bridges to cross. Children remain the responsibility of their parent/guardian at all times.
The public morning walk is part of our Partnerships for Nature project, which is led and administered by the North Wessex Downs National Landscape Partnership (NWDNL). The NWDNL published a Nature Recovery Plan identifying priorities to restore nature in the protected landscape. This is one of seven sites where conservation effort will be focussed, kick-starting delivery against this plan.
The Partnerships for Nature programme, and this project, is funded by Defra's Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.
