Stonebridge Lane Wild River Reserve

Stonebridge Lane is a beautiful riverside site on the eastern edge of Marlborough. In May 2011 the site was opened as a 'wild river reserve' - a new space where people can access the river and witness the amazing diversity of wildlife in and around this chalkstream.

The project has taken many hours of hard work by ARK volunteers and contractors, funded by the Environemnt Agency, WWF-UK, North Wessex Downs AONB, the Wild Trout Trust and BIFFA awards. Their efforts were rewarded with cake and lemonade on May 25th, when the volunteers gathered to celebrate the completion of the project.

They made good use of the hand carved benches which have been fashioned from oak by Wiltshire artist Raymond Wirick, and enjoyed reading the interpretive panels created by Helen Dobie from local design company Elcot Creative.
