On 24th of November Thames Water explained how they will reduce water abstraction from the River Kennet.

Richard Benyon MP said '"This is the news I have been waiting for. Huge credit goes to ARK for keeping the pressure up. This means that the future is bright for one of Europe's most precious rivers and most fragile ecosystems".

Claire Perry MP for the Devizes Constituency said "This development is long overdue and I am delighted that at last the project to build a pipeline to carry water to south Swindon has been given the go-ahead.  This fantastic news means that once complete, abstraction from the River Kennet at Axford can be significantly reduced, ensuring that this precious chalk stream is protected and wildlife is able to flourish.  Congratulations and huge thanks are due to everyone who has campaigned tirelessly for so long to secure this funding, and to ensure that eco-system in the Upper Kennet is saved".

Update 3rd December - please see the press release from Richard Benyon here
