Corporate Volunteering

Corporate Volunteering

We believe that businesses have an important role to play helping the environment; and this includes our precious chalk streams, their surrounding habitats and the wildlife that they support.
Our rivers are under ever increasing pressures including plastic pollution, habitat fragmentation, over abstraction and invasive species. Groups from businesses can join us for whole of half days to get hands on and directly help with our conservation and restoration projects.

ARK Corporate Volunteering Days provide an opportunity to team build outdoors, gain new skills and give back, whilst enjoying a new practical experience and having a unique insight into these internationally rare chalk streams at beautiful settings in the Kennet catchment.
Corporate days are led by an experienced member of our staff, who is an up to date First Aider. All equipment is provided, a full risk assessment is provided in advance of the day and is gone through at a team briefing at the start of the day. Participants are covered by our public liability insurance for the session.

Your funding and volunteering help us carry out our vital work.

Examples of activities:

River habitat improvement, through practical restoration
Invasive species removal
Hedge planting and maintenance
Stream water crowfoot planting
River litter pick
Rain Garden creation
Coppicing - faggot making in the woods (faggots are hazel bundles used during river restoration)

Opportunities vary throughout the year, as some aspects of our work are seasonal. Many days are in the river, but some are exclusively land based; and often there is scope for both in channel and on land volunteering roles.

Prices vary, so do get in touch to discuss your specific requirements. Please give us as much advanced notice as possible, as each day requires planning to make sure that you get the best experience with us. Contact anna@riverkennet.org with your enquiries.
